Sheffield United dismantled Bristol City at Bramall Lane and recorded another 3-0 win over them, meaning the Blades won the Championship play-off semi-final 6-0 on aggregate.

Chris Wilder made just two changes from the win at Ashton Gate as Andre Brooks came in for Rhian Brewster down the right, and Tom Cannon took the place of Tyrese Campbell.

First Half

The match began with both sides showing attacking intent. Twine dragged an early effort wide after his initial drive was only partially halted by the defence. At the other end, Cannon blazed a shot over the bar following some impressive work by Moore, while Knight’s tame effort was comfortably collected by Cooper.

The Blades offered a serious threat in the 34th minute when Hamer dispossessed Tanner and whipped a dangerous ball across the face of goal. Unfortunately for the home side, it narrowly missed the incoming runs of Brooks and Cannon.

The tie was all but decided by the 41st minute. Harrison Burrows delivered an excellent corner which was met emphatically by Kieffer Moore, who headed home from close range to open the scoring on the night.

SHEFFIELD, ENGLAND – MAY 12: Callum O’Hare of Sheffield United celebrates with his teammates after scoring his team’s third goal during the Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Semi Final Second Leg match between Sheffield United and Bristol City at Bramall Lane on May 12, 2025 in Sheffield, England. Momentum remained with the hosts after the break. Shortly after the restart, they doubled their lead, scoring from yet another corner. The ball fell to Gustavo Hamer on the edge of the box, and his shot took a heavy deflection off Ross McCrorie, looping beyond the helpless Max O’Leary.

With the crowd roaring them on and the clock ticking in their favour, the home side continued to press. Peck nearly added his name to the scoresheet following another excellent bit of combination play.

Tanner’s long-range strike forced a solid save from Cooper, who remained sharp throughout. But the final word belonged to the home side. With seven minutes remaining, substitute Callum O’Hare – just as he had done at Ashton Gate – added a third goal from the bench. An accurate ball from Campbell was cleverly dummied by Burrows which opened the space for O’Hare to sweep home and cap off a comprehensive victory.

The Blades can now sit back and relax and tune into Tuesday evening’s second leg clash between Sunderland and Coventry City, with Sunderland looking to defend a 2-1 lead at the Stadium of Light to make it an all red and white striped affair at Wembley Stadium for the Championship play-off final.

United will certainly head to London full of confidence and looking to write history by winning the play-offs for the first time in their history. Wilder’s men have already created history as they’re the first team in Championship play-off history to win a tie by a six-goal margin.
