What Chelsea think of Andrey Santos at Strasbourg | OneFootball

Chelsea are happy with how Andrey Santos is doing out on loan at Strasbourg at the moment.

That is according to well-known and well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano, who has reported on X what Chelsea really think of Santos’s loan spell in France.

The 20-year-old Brazil international midfielder joined Chelsea from Vasco da Gama in January 2023 for £18 million (ESPN).

Santos returned to Vasco on loan for a few months before being sent out on loan to Nottingham Forest for the 2023-24 campaign.

The youngster could not make a massive impact at the City Ground and was recalled by Chelsea in January 2024.

Santos went to Strasbourg on loan for the second half of last season, and that temporary move was extended for the 2024-25 campaign as well.

Santos has done very well for Strasbourg and has gone from strength to strength at the French club.

The midfielder has scored seven goals and given one assist in 18 Ligue 1 appearances so far this season.

During the second half of the 2023-24 campaign, Santos scored one goal in nine starts and two substitute appearances in Ligue 1.

Chelsea are one of the biggest clubs in the world and have a very strong squad.

Santos would not find it easy to get into Enzo Maresca’s starting line-up next season.

However, the midfielder is only 20. The Brazilian is still developing and progressing as a footballer.

Chelsea, who are aiming to finish in the Premier League top four this season, being happy with Santos is a very good sign for the midfielder. It shows that the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners want him at the club for the long term.

What Santos needs to do is continue to work hard at Strasbourg, push himself in training on a daily basis and do his best in matches.
