Why Conceicao abandoned Milan post-match media duties | OneFootball

Milan coach Sergio Conceicao did not attend any media duties following the 1-0 Serie A victory over Hellas Verona, sending club advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic in his place.

Traditionally and as part of the contract with television companies, coaches speak to the cameras after a Serie A match and then also hold a press conference.

Following this evening’s 1-0 win over Verona at San Siro, Conceicao did not hold any of these interviews, which instead were taken by Ibrahimovic.

“I am here because the coach is in the locker room, he is very shaken at the death of the Porto President, who was like a father to him. So I am here,” explained Ibrahimovic.

News came through tonight that legendary FC Porto President Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa had died at the age of 87.

He was President of the Portuguese club for 42 years from 1982 to 2024, winning 68 different trophies during his tenure.

Many of them were achieved with Conceicao as player, including three Primeira Liga titles, the Taça de Portugal and the Supertaça Candido de Oliveira.

As coach, Conceicao won another three Primeira Liga editions, four Taça de Portugal cups, one Taça da Liga and three Supertaça Candido de Oliveira trophies.

Jorge Nuno de Lima Pinto da Costa holds the record for the most trophies won and the most days in charge of a single club.
