FC Barcelona got a morale-boosting 2-4 victory against Atletico Madrid last night, and there is little doubt that this win can end up helping the Blaugranes immensely as this La Liga campaign arrives closer to its conclusion.
Several players from the Catalan team stood out and helped their side overturn a 2 goal deficit, with Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal, and Ferran Torres all getting on the scoresheet.
On the defensive end, Wojciech Szczesny was unable to keep a clean sheet in this game, but he would still be happy with this win as it allowed him to continue with his unbeaten run, which now extends to 16 games, since his debut for Barcelona.
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Polish goalkeeper was another Blaugrana player to talk to the media after the end of the match.
The Pole attributed Atletico Madrid’s defeat to their lack of courage and boldness:
“Football is ruthless, and it was clear that Atlético lacked strength at the end. In this sport, you have to be bold to take advantage of opportunities.”
Despite still being one of their opponents in the league and the Copa del Rey, Szczesny declared that he felt some sympathy for the Colchoneros after their defeat last night, which came only a few days after their elimination from the Champions League:
“We achieved this victory and we’re happy, although I admit I feel a bit sorry for the opponent.”
The goalkeeper also revealed how he will be spending the upcoming international break as he has already retired from international duties:
“Golf! First, a few more days of training, then some days off, and then, there will be golf.”
