Neymar's potential move to MLS is beginning to take flight, leaving fans of both the Brazilian superstar and the league stateside buzzing for a potential January bombshell.
The former Barcelona and PSG star has long been linked to a move away from Saudi club Al-Hilal, and his potential landing spot is looking increasingly likely to be MLS.
According to a variety of MLS insiders such as Tom Bogert for GiveMeSport and Jeffrey Carlisle for ESPN, three MLS clubs are currently in the running to sign Neymar, with both the Chicago Fire and Inter Miami being named. The third club remains unknown.
Chicago are reportedly the club making the most headway, as they have opened 'preliminary talks' to sign the 32-year-old.
Reports have suggested that the midwest club are 'prepared' to emulate Inter Miami's financial package for Lionel Messi — $20 million salary plus sponsorship bonuses.
However, Neymar's camp is reportedly requesting higher figures as he is said to be making close to $100 million per year at Al Hilal.
The Fire are the only club said to have opened talks with Neymar and his people, but other clubs within MLS and across the globe have registered interest in one way or another.
Neymar will turn 33 this summer and has been riddled with injuries since making the move from France to Saudi Arabia.
