CBF Futebol confirmed on Friday that the Brazil national team are calling up four new players, adding Joao Gomes, Beraldo, Ederson, and Weverton to their squad.

The quartet are taking the places of Gabriel Magalhaes, Bruno Guimaraes, Gerson, and Alisson, with PSG centre-back Beraldo the replacement for Arsenal’s Gabriel.

Both Gabriel and Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes picked up one-game suspensions after receiving yellow cards in Brazil’s win over Colombia, so the national team have acted fast to replace them.

As for Gerson and Liverpool’s Alisson, the two will miss out due to injury. Gerson has thigh pain, whilst Alisson suffered a head injury and needs to follow FIFA’s concussion protocol.

CBF Futebol confirm that both Gerson and Alisson will return to their clubs. Though they don’t explicitly state that Gabriel and Guimaraes will do the same, it seems pretty likely.

There’s little use having the pair in training now that they have no chance to play Tuesday’s match.

Gabriel played well against Colombia, winning 100% of his five aerial duels, completing 97% of his passes, making three clearances, two interceptions, and blocking one shot.

But the suspension rules are strict, and the defender is now one of four Brazil players to pick up a yellow-card ban this campaign.

From an Arsenal point of view, the centre-back now has plenty of time to rest up before the game against Fulham on April 1st.
