Matheus Cunha has quickly become a key figure for Wolverhampton Wanderers, impressing with his ability to play in various attacking roles. Whether it’s as an attacking midfielder, a supporting striker, or a center-forward, the Brazilian has seamlessly adapted to each position.

His standout performances have drawn interest from top clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain, according to Fichajes. While Cunha has become integral to Wolves, the club may be open to selling him for a fee of over €70 million.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports News reports that Nottingham Forest is preparing a club-record bid of around £60 million, which could potentially persuade Wolves to sell. However, this weekend, Cunha opted to extend his contract with the club, complicating any potential move for the Brazilian.

On Wednesday, Wolves published his comments on the club’s official website explaining why he wanted to sign a new contract and remain at Molineux Stadium.

“I feel so good here, with the love the fans give to me and my family,” Cunha said. “I always go to the pitch and try to give back. Of course, there was a lot of noise around what Matheus would do.

“I feel happy. I used my heart to make this decision, more than anything. It was my passion. I love being here. Everyone wants something more for their career, but I feel this is the moment to keep fighting and show everyone what we have, and what love I want to give back.”

Moreover, this contract extension is a blow for Aston Villa as The Guardian reported that Aston Villa was weighing up a late move for Wolves’ 25-year-old striker before the transfer deadline on Monday.

Despite the new contract, Wolves aren’t out of the woods yet as they’ll need to avoid relegation to ensure that they keep their attacking star for next season.
