In October, SPORT reported that Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain are all keeping an eye on Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

Although de Jong is committed to staying at Barcelona, PSG’s history of signing players from the Catalan club makes them a potential destination next summer. PSG has strengthened their midfield in recent years with additions like Vitinha, Fabián Ruiz, and João Neves, fueling further speculation about de Jong’s future.

Journalist Ferran Correas also suggested that Barcelona might be willing to sell de Jong next summer. However, Diario AS recently emphasized that the midfielder is very comfortable at Barcelona and has no intention of leaving, despite the club’s openness to receiving a substantial transfer fee for him.

Barcelona have reportedly reached out to de Jong as part of their plans to start talks on new contracts, according to Sport. The club aims to prevent key players from entering the final 12 months of their current deals and is now optimistic about securing extensions before next summer, following positive initial discussions.

Fichajes recently reported that Borussia Dortmund could be a surprising contender for the Dutch international. Dortmund are looking to add players who can strengthen their squad and boost their chances in both the Bundesliga and the Champions League.

The same outlet also linked Liverpool with de Jong as a potential midfield addition. Given Barcelona’s financial struggles and de Jong’s reportedly high wages of around £300,000 per week, the club might consider selling him for the right offer.

De Jong’s contract with Barcelona runs until 2026, but no extension has been signed yet. While an asking price wasn’t specified, Transfermarkt values him at €60 million.
