A leading member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has equalled his best-ever assist tally for a single campaign.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Alejandro Balde as the player in question.

Left-back Balde was for his part in from the off once more on Sunday, as Barcelona welcomed Valencia to Catalunya’s capital for a La Liga clash.

And, en route to an eventual 7-1 rout, the Spanish international shone bright once more.

Continuing what has been a spectacular recent stretch of individual form, Balde stood out as a consistent source of excellence on the hosts’ left flank.

The highlight of his showing came early on, when a pinpoint delivery into the Valencia penalty area was converted by Ferran Torres.

And, as alluded to above, as much has since given rise to a head-turning statistic.

As per MD, despite it being only January, Balde has now equalled his best assists tally for a season, with six to his name in 2024/25.
