‘Can confirm’: Fabrizio Romano green-lights Man Utd deal amid ‘clear indication’ for £25m player

It says a lot about his application and output that neither Manchester United fans nor Chelsea fans want to end up with Jadon Sancho long-term.
When his move to Stamford Bridge was finalised on deadline day last summer, the Red Devils thought they’d finally offloaded an ultimately substandard £73 million asset once and for all – albeit for much cheaper than they’d hoped.
United inserted an obligation-to-buy clause in Sancho’s loan terms with Chelsea worth around £25m. Should the Blues finish in the top 14 of the Premier League table come May, they would have to fork out the amount and sign the winger permanently. Or so we thought…
Now, Sancho’s continued lacklustre form has seemingly prompted Enzo Maresca and the board to second-guess their decision. Reports circulated this week claiming the club would try their hand at bypassing the obligation – even if it means paying a small fee to waive the term with United.

Fabrizio Romano’s understanding, however, is of the contrary. He weighed in on the speculation regarding the 25-year-old’s future, and whether he would spend the 2025/2026 campaign at Old Trafford or Stamford Bridge.
The transfer expert told viewers (via his YouTube channel) that he ‘can confirm’ there is an option for Chelsea to essentially buy their way out of the agreement, therefore sending Sancho back to United upon the culmination of the season, but that’s not currently what they plan to do.
Instead, both he and club chiefs are keen for him to stay put in London, where he remains in pursuit of his first league goal since December 8.
Elsewhere, the Reds could recuperate £40m of pure profit if Aston Villa opt to activate their buy option for Marcus Rashford.
