Chelsea ready formal bid for Alejandro Garnacho | OneFootball

Chelsea are set to approach Manchester United over a deal to sign Alejandro Garnacho before the deadline.

Garnacho has emerged as a player of interest to Chelsea after it was revealed that Manchester United would consider significant proposals.

Chelsea opened talks with the Red Devils to request the conditions of a potential deal before international discussions took place on whether to formalise their interest.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that a formal offer from Chelsea is now expected. Manchester United rejected an offer in the region of €50m (£42m) from Napoli earlier in the window, with Garnacho valued at around €70m (£59m) at Old Trafford. Napoli remain interested but have now turned their attention to Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi.

Chelsea have spoken to Garnacho’s camp and will now look to reach an agreement with Manchester United over a fee. The 20-year-old has scored eight goals in 32 appearances this season but has lost his place as a regular under Ruben Amorim.

Despite his potential, United are prepared to cash in on the Argentina international to raise funds for Amorim’s rebuild. Garnacho’s status as a high-value academy graduate has persuaded the Red Devils to listen to offers from interested clubs.

Garnacho – who has won eight caps for Argentina – has scored 23 times in 118 senior appearances for Manchester United. He netted the opener in last season’s FA Cup final win over Manchester City at Wembley.
