Following AC Milan’s narrow victory against Red Star Belgrade, Paulo Fonseca voiced his concerns to the media and today, he spoke with Zlatan Ibrahimovic about the matter.
Fonseca spoke very critically about his squad after the win last night, and it has certainly caused rumblings around the club. Not only has the Portuguese opened a can of worms about who he could be speaking about, but it also is a publication of his issues with the squad, which rarely ends well.
It also opens a chasm. A head coach is supposed to be ‘above’ the players, and with the clear gap between the coach and some of his team, fans may feel like they have to pick a side.
This, imaginably, only opens up problems for all parties, as having fans for or against players or staff, again, never ends well.
Today, Calciomercato.com has reported that after the head coach’s words last night, he spoke with Ibrahimovic about the situation at Milanello today. The report suggests that Fonseca explained himself, which has ‘left some traces in the Rossoneri environment’, with the Swede understanding his actions as a ‘necessity’ to raise levels.
Whilst the report concludes by stating the confrontation was nothing more than a ‘planned scenario’, reports that the management were not present to greet the head coach and squad this morning could open up other unneeded questions about things.
