It would be foolish to write off Valle after one game. Nicolas Kuhn is proof of that…

Alex Valle made his Celtic debut against Falkirk yesterday, and he earned an array of mixed reviews for his performance.

My own take on it is that he did okay, but didn’t overly impress me. For me Greg Taylor is still the number one choice at left back, although I’ll cut the on loan Barca Boy some slack as it was only his first game after all.

It would be foolish of me or any other Celtic supporter to write the young man off so early in his Celtic career. You can have an opinion on a player for his performance in one game, but to judge him fully and write him off completely would be rather unfair and foolish.

One man currently in our squad is living proof of that and his name is Nicolas Kuhn. The German winger didn’t exactly impress when he first arrived, but now he’s fully up to speed, he’s one of the first names on Brendan Rodgers team sheet and has arguably been our best player so far this season.

Brendan Rodgers was asked in his post match media conference yesterday if that was a crash course in the physicality of Scottish football for Valle and that’s an entirely accurate description of the you Alex’s first taste of the game in Scotland.

“100 per cent. You might get that in Spain, but you won’t get that in Britain unless it’s a foul. He’ll learn that – he’s a good kid and he’s only young. He’s settled in really well into the city and the club. He’s there for us when he’s needed.”

So we should all reserve our judgement on young Alex or any other new signings until they are fully bedded into the side. And, in the meantime, we should be getting the new deal with Greg Taylor sorted out as soon possible.
