FC Barcelona have emerged victorious over SL Benfica in their massive UEFA Champions League clash. During this second leg of their Round of 16 tie, La Blaugrana managed to showcase complete dominance. Now, following this win, Barcelona find themselves in the quarterfinals of the competition.

However, this game gave the Catalan club a lot of memorable moments to look back to. Most of all, it gave Barcelona reason to dream about the future and the possibilities that lie ahead. Still alive in all three major competitions, Barça have a chance to make history.

Currently first in La Liga, in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey, and now in the final eight of the UEFA Champions League, Barcelona are in a good place right now. This recent form of theirs, moreover, has filled viewers and fans with a lot of confidence as well.

Yet, this confidence is not the kind that is only infectious outside the club, but even the team itself seems to believe in this dream of theirs. Following the game itself, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, 20-year-old Barcelona midfielder Gavi confirmed this belief:

“Of course, we’re convinced we can win everything. I’m sure we can take home all the titles on offer because we are proving it.”

However, the Barcelona midfielder was quick to turn his attention back towards taking things one step at a time, and stated that the game against Atletico Madrid was now their focus:

“Now we have to go to the Metropolitano.”

As for Pedri, one of the standout performers of not just this game but several games throughout the season, Gavi had nothing but praise for his Barcelona teammate:

“Pedri is top-notch, everyone knows the kind of player he is, and I’m really happy for him because last year he couldn’t show his full potential due to injuries. I can say that right now, Pedri is the best midfielder at the moment.”

Gavi also touched upon the subject of his playing time and his future, committing himself fully to the club no matter what for the years to come:

“It’s the club of my life, and I’ll stay until I can. In the end, we rotate a lot, and I feel like I’m participating. For example, against Real Sociedad I was going to be in the starting eleven, but I had a fever, and against Osasuna, the match got postponed. I have a lot left… I’ve signed for five years. Barça is the club of my life, and I’ll stay until I can. It’s not true what’s being said.”

During the game against SL Benfica, Gavi managed to have a cameo of sorts as well. Replacing Dani Olmo, the Spaniard managed to come into the game and bring in a new level of energy and dynamism in order to help Barcelona maintain their 3-1 lead.
