Earlier this week, Kylian Mbappe marked his return to the national team fold after an absence of six months when he was picked by Didier Deschamps in the most recent French squad.
Mbappe was selected alongside his Real Madrid compatriots such as Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga.
In a recent interview with Telefoot, Deschamps opened up about Mbappe’s return to the national team fold.
The French national team coach, who is often known for his hit and miss relationship with Mbappe, hailed the Real Madrid superstar. Deschamps even went on to confirm that Mbappe will captain the French team.
“I have always said that the team will be stronger with Mbappe, and today I confirm that again; I spoke with him recently, and he will wear the captain’s armband as I mentioned earlier,” he said.

Mbappe’s role will be critical as France take on Croatia in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Nations League.
Heading into this game, Deschamps tried to encourage Mbappe by admiring his current form at Real Madrid.
“Mbappe’s transfer to Real Madrid has sparked a lot of expectations, but he is still achieving great numbers; the atmosphere there and the players are different from what he had at Paris Saint-Germain,” he said.
Mbappe has indeed proven doubters, even in the Real Madrid camp, wrong thanks to his brilliant set of performances since the turn of the year, with his recent brace against Villarreal extending his goals tally to 20 in La Liga.
