Enzo Maresca hopes to have Romeo Lavia back for the final ten games of the season according to journalist Kieran Gill.
Lavia has been plagued by injury issues since his move to Chelsea from Southampton in the summer of 2023, which could be worth up to £58m.
The 21-year-old played just 30 minutes of football under Mauricio Pochettino as he pretty much missed the entire season.
Lavia was one of Chelsea’s standout performers in pre-season and he looked set to finally get his Chelsea career up and running.
The midfielder has impressed when he’s been on the pitch this season and is arguably one of Chelsea’s most important players.
Whilst Lavia has featured more regularly, the injury issues that plagued him last campaign are starting to rear their head again.

Lavia is currently sidelined and has already missed 13 games this season, with a lot of strain being put on Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez.
Maresca confirmed after the Wolves win that Lavia’s injury was worse than that of Fernandez, and he’s now provided a further update as quoted by Gill.
Gill took to X.com and said:
“Update on Romeo Lavia from Enzo Maresca: “I feel sad for him. We have 16 games of the (Premier League) season left and we hope to have Romeo back for the last 10.”
“That would suggest mid-March for a return if correct timeframe from #CFC boss.”
It’s a huge blow for Chelsea and Lavia, which must now surely make them consider recalling Lesley Ugochukwu from Southampton, even though Maresca confirmed that wasn’t the intention in his pre-match press conference.

Chelsea’s only current fit midfielders are Caicedo and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, although Fernandez did return to training on Friday.
The Blues can’t afford to continue with the current midfield options given Lavia’s injury issues and failure to act this month could cost them a place in the Champions League next season.
