Inter Milan are hoping to sign Nico Paz from Real Madrid in a similar deal to Juventus’s acquisition of Alvaro Morata.
This according to Milan-based newspaper Il GIornale, via FCInterNews.
There is no doubt that Paz is a target for Inter. The Argentine has shone over the first season at Como, and has exactly the kind of profile the Nerazzurri are seeking.
Just twenty years of age, Paz has scored twice and made three goals from midfield in Serie A.
Inter view the 20-year-old as capable of playing either as a forward, or as a central midfielder.
The trickiest part of signing Paz for Inter could be the fact that Real Madrid have a buyback clause on the Argentine.
Los Blancos sold Paz to Como during the summer. They did so for a fee of just €6 million.
However, Real inserted a couple of important clauses in the deal.
Firstly, there is a sell-on clause. Real would receive 50% of any transfer fee that Como receive for Paz.
And then, the Spanish champions also have a €12 million buyback clause.
Therefore, there is every chance that Real will sign Paz back next summer.
However, Inter believe that they can convince Los Blancos on a deal for the Argentine.
Paz is not likely to have much of a place in Real’s squad next season. There are already Jude Bellingham, Arda Guler, and Brahim Diaz in his position.
However, Real may not want to completely give up control of Paz.
Therefore, the Spaniards could be open to a deal that sees Paz join Inter next summer – but with a buyback option that becomes active in 2027.
This would be similar to the deal that saw Alvaro Morata join Juventus in 2014. Or the sale of Brahim Diaz to AC Milan.
