Inter Milan wingback Federico Dimarco is hardly underestimating the motivation of Cagliari in today’s Serie A match.
The Italian international spoke to InterTV ahead of the match, via FCInterNews. He stressed that “they need points, but we do too.”
Inter face Cagliari away in Serie A today.
And there is a sense that this will be a big match at both ends of the table.
On one hand, Inter will feel the pressure to take three points. They’re in a fierce title race with the likes of Atalanta and Napoli, among others.
On the other, Cagliari certainly need every point they can get at this point.
The Rossoblu have lost their last three Serie A matches. That is despite the fact that they have had good chances to take something from all of them.
The performances are there for Cagliari. But up to now, the results largely haven’t been.
Therefore, the Sardinians will have ample motivation to fight for something, even against the defending champions Inter.
Inter wingback Dimarco anticipated that “Today will be a tough match, as with the ones before it.”
“We know that Cagliari need to start taking points,” the 27-year-old continued.
“But we have to as well,” he made clear.
“It will be a good match. But it’s one that we have to win.”
Dimarco added that “We worked hard during the week [on the tactical battle on the flanks.]”
“Now we have to try and show that on the pitch this evening.”
“The way that we start the match will be important this evening,” Dimarco continued.
“Cagliari have fans who can really push them on.”
“We have to get off to a strong start right away,” the Inter wingback made clear of this evening’s match.
