Loan exit on the cards for Manchester City’s Jack Grealish as Premier League rivals circle

Jack Grealish could yet leave Manchester City during the upcoming summer transfer window, with a loan deal most likely, according to reports.
The England international has largely struggled throughout the course of the ongoing season for consistent opportunities in Pep Guardiola’s starting line-ups, of which the Catalan coach has credited to the performances of others.
Earlier in the season, the 54-year-old pointed towards the growth of Jeremy Doku and Savinho’s output as wingers on the left of his traditional front-three, thus restricting how much game-time could be afforded to Grealish.
Guardiola has however entrusted the Englishman in multiple big matches since, handing him a start in the UEFA Champions League last-16 play-off first-leg meeting with Real Madrid, as well as the FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest.
Nevertheless, the common feeling in various quarters is that those showings of faith alone are not enough to guarantee Grealish of his place in Manchester City’s plans beyond the end of this season – particularly with an expected overhaul on the cards.
Now, according to the information of The Athletic’s Sam Lee, Jack Grealish could leave Manchester City this summer – most likely on a temporary basis – with Premier League rivals Newcastle United among the clubs interested.
Despite the growing uncertainty surrounding the future of the former Aston Villa captain, Grealish has already looked ahead to the summer’s FIFA Club World Cup campaign with Manchester City with plenty of excitement.
“I think it will be unbelievable,” Grealish told the club’s official website this week. “It’s something I’ve never heard of before; that many teams in a group, then a knockout.”
The City forward continued, “I’ve been fortunate enough to play at the World Cup and it was unbelievable. I feel it’ll be incredible, everyone’s looking forward to it and hopefully we can do well.”
For now, it remains to be seen just how much it would take to tempt Manchester City into a permanent sale of Grealish should the right suitor come to the table, as well as what other clubs could rival Newcastle in pursuit of the player.
