Manchester City are preparing an offer for Eberechi Eze ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup final meeting with Crystal Palace at Wembley, as per a new report.
Eze has enjoyed a stellar campaign under Oliver Glasner in south London and has been subject to interest from several clubs in the Premier League, who have kept tabs on the England international ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old will enter the final two years of his current deal at Selhurst Park this summer and Crystal Palace could be tempted to cash in on one of their best players should a suitor club make an offer the Eagles can’t turn down.
Hugo Viana is set to take over from Txiki Begiristain as Manchester City’s director of football in the near future and the Portuguese will back Pep Guardiola heavily in the transfer market to rebuild and plug all loopholes that derailed City’s silverware aspirations this term.
Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz tops Manchester City’s wishlist of signings for the summer transfer window as Guardiola looks to persuade the 22-year-old German to fend off interest from Bayern Munich and take over the mantle from the outgoing Kevin De Bruyne at the Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City are also working on a deal to sign Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest and while personal terms are understood to not pose an issue, there is progress to be made in talks between the two sides over a transfer.
Eze made a positive impression at the Etihad Stadium in April as Palace made a fast start against the 2023 treble winners and went 2-0 up within 21 minutes, with the attacking midfielder netting the opener and tormenting Manchester City’s backline for much of the first-half in what eventually ended in a dramatic 5-2 win for Guardiola’s side.
As per a new report by Football Insider, Manchester City will use the upcoming FA Cup final as an audition to watch Eze closely as they prepare an offer for the Crystal Palace man ahead of the summer transfer window.
Eze scored a brilliant goal in Palace’s 3-0 FA Cup semi-final win over Aston Villa and is one of the brightest forwards in the Premier League after an impressive few years at Crystal Palace, where his stock has risen to attract interest from clubs at the top end of the table.
Manchester City have working on deals to sign Wirtz, Gibbs-White and are also readying an offer for AC Milan’s Tijjani Reijnders so it currently remains to be seen if the Blues will formalise their interest in Eze in the coming weeks and months.
