The Match

Cannes looked to quickly put away their lower-tier opposition. Julien Domingues, making his 100th appearance for Les Cannois, opened the scoring, tapping in Chafik Abbas’ ball across the face of goal. His second was much more spectacular. Maxime Blanc played a floated ball into the box and Domingues opted for the ambitious overhead bicycle kick and pulled it off to perfection.

Cannes’ top scorer this season looked to have put the game to bed within the first 12 minutes but SU Dives fought back with Aurelien Thoris halving the deficit. However, on the stroke of half-time, the N2 side’s two-goal cushion was restored thanks to a brilliant strike into the top corner from Abbas, a livewire throughout.

Dives Cabourg would not be beaten, however. Théo Fontaine slotted home from close range, latching onto a loose ball in the box. But once again, the two-goal gap was re-established. Jonathan Mambu Kimvuidi got it, rifling into the roof of the net after being put through on goal.

Substitute Alexis Goncalves Pereira added a fifth late on with a sliding finish after Dassiemou Mai broke down the left hand side of the Dives Cabourg defence. The visitors netted a late consolaion through Alban Eric Junior Bekombo, however, it is Cannes who progress to the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France.
