Eddie Howe’s side head into the clash in confident mood, after thrashing Leicester City 4-0 at St James’ Park at the weekend. In this competition, Newcastle have already seen off Premier League high-flyers in Nottingham Forest and Chelsea.

The Magpies reached the final of this competition in 2023 and are now two steps from another decider. Newcastle have not won a domestic cup competition since lifting the FA Cup in 1955.

Martin Dubravka is set to continue in goal this evening with Nick Pope facing a spell out with knee ligament damage. Sven Botman made his return to action for the u-21 side this week, but is unlikely to return to first-team action in 2024. The Dutch defender has been out for nine months with an ACL injury.

Emil Krafth is also edging closer to his return, as Howe looks to replenish his depleted defence. Elsewhere, Kieran Trippier will hope for a start at full-back. The 34-year-old has made just three Premier League starts this season after losing his place as a first-team regular to Tino Livramento.

Callum Wilson and Jamaal Lascelles remain on the treatment table.
