Norwich City have previously been linked with Fenerbahce defender Bright Osayi-Samuel

Norwich City could face competition from Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, and Everton should they move for Fenerbahçe full-back Bright Osayi-Samuel after links to him last month.

According to TBR Football, the Premier League trio are all weighing up a potential move for the winger turned defender.

Osayi-Samuel is out of contract in 2025, meaning he could become a free agent at the end of the campaign.

Clubs in England will be able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement in January, which could secure his signing for the summer, or they could look to find an agreement with the Turkish club to bring him in January.

The right-back has featured four times for Fenerbahçe in the Süper Lig so far this season, as well as a further three appearances in the Europa League.

It was previously reported by Turkish outlet Fanatik in October that Norwich and French side Lens are keeping tabs on the 26-year-old amid his expiring contract situation.

However, they will now face stiff competition from a number of Premier League clubs, with Villa, Palace and Everton.

Bournemouth, Fulham and Brighton have also been mentioned as potential next destinations for the Nigeria international.

Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho is keen to keep Osayi-Samuel beyond his current contract, but it remains to be seen whether he can be convinced.

The defender has experience playing in English football and could make the return with a transfer in 2025.

Osayi-Samuel spent four seasons at QPR, where he made 103 Championship appearances before making the switch to Fenerbahçe in 2021.

The opportunity to move back to English football could be quite alluring, although it remains to be seen whether he could be persuaded to return to the Championship.

Johannes Hoff Thorup’s side will be targeting a place in the Premier League for next season, but the lack of certainty over their league status could cost them if a pre-contract agreement is made in January.

Norwich City’s promotion hopes

Thorup’s side are in the mix for a play-off place in these early stages of the campaign, but they sit 12th in the Championship table.

Norwich finished sixth in the previous campaign but missed out on promotion with a play-off semi-final loss to Leeds United.

The Canaries are currently winless in their last five games, which has seen them fall four points behind sixth place Millwall.

Up next for Norwich is a home game against Bristol City on Saturday in a 3pm kick-off.

Osayi-Samuel competition will be tough for Norwich

Osayi-Samuel has looked good when playing for Fenerbahçe, particularly shining for the team in their Europa League campaign so far this season.

He would be a strong signing for Norwich, especially given his contract situation means he could arrive for a relatively low cost.

However, the competition for his signing will be very tricky to navigate against, especially if he is willing to sign a pre-contract agreement in January.
