A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid may have been lucky to escape a red card during the club’s latest outing.
The player in question? Dani Ceballos.
Real, of course, are currently locked in action with city rivals Atlético, in the latest edition of the Madrid Derby.
Former Arsenal man Ceballos, for his part, was afforded a starting berth in the clash, from his customary berth at the base of midfield.
Early in proceedings in the Spanish capital, however, the 28-year-old was, in the eyes of many, lucky to remain on the field of play.
After entering into a 50/50 challenge in midfield, Ceballos completely missed the ball, going over the top with his studs into the trailing leg of Pablo Barrios.
Upon replays coming to the fore, the widespread consensus, in turn, was that the Spaniard was lucky to escape with only a yellow card.
*Update* – Atlético Madrid have since taken the lead, courtesy of a controversial penalty dispatched by Julián Alvarez.
