Tyler Dibling could follow in Gareth Bale's footsteps by joining Tottenham Hotspur from Southampton. Rumour has it, he's keen to make the switch.
Southampton and Tottenham seem to have a pretty mutual relationship with one another. After all, Southampton gifted Spurs Gareth Bale and more recently, Spurs gifted us Kyle Walker-Peters.
While those two players are obviously miles apart in terms of quality, Kyle Walker-Peters has had an incredible impact at Southampton and he will be sorely missed if he leaves at the end of the season.
Spurs have been linked to re-signing Kyle Walker-Peters. However, there is another name who sticks out above the rest. Recently, Spurs have become interested in signing Tyler Dibling.
The Southampton teenager is an in-demand player. As one of the best young English players, it is understandable that clubs are lining up to sign him. It doesn't help Southampton's case that they are a dead-cert for relegation.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tyler Dibling is "very keen" on making the switch from Southampton to Tottenham. Furthermore, the report claims that Spurs are working hard behind the scenes to jump to the front of the queue for Dibling.
Much like Southampton, Tottenham have also had a woeful season. While this might seem bizarre to say given their pedigree, Spurs are not out of the relegation discussion as it stands. After all, they currently sit in 15th and just eight points from safety as it stands.
So, obviously, Tottenham would like to strengthen their squad ready for next season. It would be an understatement to say that Ange Postecoglou is crying out for signings to be made.
The Tottenham hierarchy would like to support Ange Postecoglou. From an outsider's perspective, it can be easy to shout "sack him!" but the Spurs board sees it differently. Not only do they want to keep Postecoglou but they would like to back his transfer vision.
Nevertheless, Tyler Dibling will not be sold in the January transfer window. It is within the Saints' best interest to keep him until the end of the season. Considering his unfortunate injury, we have no choice but to keep him anyway.
