Troy Deeney picks out two from Newcastle United – Intriguing

Troy Deeney has picked his best 12 performers from the weekend’s action.
The Premier League team of the week (and manager) that have most impressed him.
Included in his dozen choices are two from Newcastle United.
I can’t disagree.
Troy Deeney explains why he has picked out Bruno Guimaraes for his Premier League team of the week and Eddie Howe for Manager of the week, then the full eleven (twelve) are listed below:
Bruno Guimaraes (Newcastle):
“Scored the only goal against West Ham in a must-win match for his team in the Champions League race.
“It can be hard for players with a massive game like the Carabao Cup final coming up on Sunday – no player wants to get injured before that.
“But he was one of the few that didn’t shirk a tackle and still played this game at full intensity.”
Much better from Troy Deeney.
Not just because he has picked a Newcastle player amongst the best Premier League performers.
More the fact that he appears to have put a bit more effort into his choices and what he has had to say about them.
No doubt many pundits will be ‘forgetting’ that they predicted defeat for Newcastle against a ‘resurgent’ West Ham team under Graham Potter, the hammers having won away at Arsenal and home to Leicester in their previous two matches.
Bruno Guimaraes gave a real captain’s performance, led by example, scored the winner as well.
Whist I also totally agree with what Troy Deeney has had to say below on Eddie Howe.
Troy Deeney Premier League team (and manager) of the week:
Dean Henderson (Crystal Palace)
Ola Aina (Nottingham Forest)
Tyrone Mings (Aston Villa)
Murillo (Nottingham Forest)
Milos Kerkez (Bournemouth)
Declan Rice (Arsenal)
Bruno Guimaraes (Newcastle)
Bruno Fernandes (Man Utd)
Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)
Ismaila Sarr (Crystal Palace)
Manager:
Eddie Howe (Newcastle United):
“It is another massive week for Newcastle – Howe could have easily chosen a different team against West Ham and rested everybody so they were ready for the cup final.
“Instead he went for it and made sure he got the job done – despite having lost Anthony Gordon and Lewis Hall to injury – and they are now level on points with fifth-placed Man City.
“He deserves credit for instilling that ‘win every game’ mentality.”
