Goals from Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe and Fede Valverde helped Real Madrid ease past Leganes on match day 14.
Fede’s first game as captain proved to be an easy one but also one where he played out of position.
Here is how the Real Madrid players fared against Leganes.
Player ratings:
Thibaut Courtois: 6.5
Perhaps one of the easiest cleansheets for the Belgian at Real Madrid. Did not have to make any saves whatsoever. Just had to cut off a few crosses.
Fede Valverde: 9.0
The Uruguayan has made it clear many times in the past how he does not like playing in this position, but Fede just put up a masterclass as a right-back. Scored a banger, made 3 interceptions, 2 tackles and some clearances as well. Supreme display in his first match as captain.
Antonio Rüdiger: 7.5
A usual day at the office for the German. Kept the Leganes forward line quiet, played some accurate long balls and won his duels as well.
Raul Asencio: 7.5
Solid display from the youngster who made his first start for the Merengues. Won his tackles and clearances and was decent on the ball too. Hopefully, he is rewarded with a start at Anfield.
Fran García: 7.0
Defensively vulnerable at times but made some intelligent overlapping runs in the opposition box. Got a couple of crosses in, made some interceptions and kept the ball out of danger when needed. Will be interesting to see if Ancelotti gives him a chance against an in-form Mo Salah.
Eduardo Camavinga: 7.5
Not as dynamic but still as effective. Won the ball back for the first goal and ran the midfield well along with Dani Ceballos and Arda Güler. Will be a vital player in the midfield while Fede plays in defence.
Dani Ceballos: 7.5
Had as many as 101 touches throughout the night and complimented Camavinga brilliantly in the middle of the pitch. Won 8 duels and made 4 tackles too. Not a bad outing for the backup.
Arda Güler: 8.0
Finally received a deserved start and did not disappoint at all. Caused problems for the Leganes defence and got close to scoring twice. Recorded an assist for Fede’s banger. A delight for sore eyes.
Jude Bellingham: 8.5
Arguably the best player of the night. Made tackles, interceptions, won his duels and complimented the front line well. Scored his second goal in consecutive games. Got three dribbles to his name too. Blessed to have a player like him in the side.
Vinícius Júnior: 8.0
Did not play at the left this game but that did not seem to matter as the Brazilian proved to be a menace either way. The way he combined with Mbappe up front should be a teaser as to how things would look when they are at their best. Set up the Frenchman beautifully for the first goal and now looks in supreme form before the Liverpool clash.
Kylian Mbappe: 7.5
Yet again, scored a goal but needs to time his runs well as a brace was there for the taking. Did not offer much while tracking back but he seems to have found his scoring boots after getting a chance on the left wing.
Substitutes:
Brahim Díaz: 6.5
Was expected to start this game after a sensational international break but the opposite happened. Still, looked lively on the pitch when coming on for Güler and even had a crack at goal which hit the crossbar.
Luka Modric: 6.0
Subbed on late for Mbappe to provide extra legs in the Real Madrid midfield. Did what was expected from him and kept things simple.
Played just 3 minutes and had 4 touches. Not enough involvement in the match to warrant a rating.
