Atletico Madrid have already begun their search for a new backup goalkeeper, and recently, they had an offer for Walter Benitez turned down by PSV Eindhoven. All of this is necessary because Horatiu Moldovan, who only joined the club in January, is pushing for an exit this summer.

Moldovan arrived from Rapid Bucharest to replace Ivo Grbic, who joined Sheffield United during the winter. He played zero minutes across all competitions, as Diego Simeone stuck with Jan Oblak throughout the second half of last season.

This infuriated Moldovan, who also lost his starting spot for Romania at Euro 2024. He’s now looking to leave, and according to Fanatik (via MD), as many as eight clubs are eyeing up a move for him.

La Liga sides Getafe, Rayo Vallecano and Real Valladolid are all interested in Moldovan, as are Celtic, Ferencvaros and Hamburg. Saudi Arabian clubs Al Ared and Damac are also considered to be in the race.

This amount of interest should mean that Atletico Madrid can demand more than usual for Moldovan, as they aim to build their bank balance with the intention of making multiple big-money signings this summer.
