Barcelona target Dani Olmo has said that he is still undecided on his future.

Olmo made a significant mark at Euro 2024, establishing himself as one of the top attacking midfielders globally.

He ended the tournament as the top scorer and a key player for the Spanish national team, who emerged as champions. As a result, he has been on the club’s radar for some time.

However, speaking in a recent interview after winning the continental title with Spain, Olmo was asked if he planned to return to La Liga next season. His response was vague, saying, “We’ll see, we’ll see,” as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

Bayern frontrunners and Barcelona have other priorities

According to previous reports, Olmo has not yet made a definitive decision about his future and it appears more likely that he will stay in the Bundesliga, with Bayern Munich being the frontrunner.

Olmo has a few days left, until July 20, to exercise a favourable exit clause from Leipzig, which, following his stellar Euro Cup performance, is set at approximately €60 million. He is under contract until 2027, but it seems increasingly probable that he will be playing for a new club next season.

Meanwhile, it must be noted that Barcelona consider Olmo a strong alternative to Nico Williams, their primary target.

Despite facing financial challenges in pursuing Nico, Barcelona have not lost sight of Olmo.

The club’s sports department, having closely watched the tournament, has been highly impressed by Olmo’s performance and they now see him as a more viable option compared to Liverpool’s Luis Diaz.

However, any potential move for Olmo depends on Barcelona’s success in signing Nico. If they manage to secure the 22-year-old from Athletic Club, they will likely abandon their pursuit of Olmo.
