Bayern Munich are set to be without Alphonso Davies for a lengthy spell with a cruciate ligament injury.
The left-back picked up the problem during Canada's 2-1 win over the United States of America last weekend.
That resulted in him being substituted after just 12 minutes but despite both the player and coaching staff appearing to be initially optimistic, it seems that the issue is worse than first feared.
Following tests on the problem in Munich on Wednesday, the club confirmed that Davies is now set to be ruled out for at least six months with a tear to the cruciate ligament in his right knee.
He will undergo surgery on Wednesday.
The news comes as a huge blow to Bayern, who are still in the running for the Bundesliga and Champions League this season.
It isn't the only international break problem the club will have to solve in defence, with Dayot Upamecano also ruled out for 'several weeks' with left knee discomfort.
