L’Équipe understands that Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are two of four teams leading the race to sign Stade Rennais midfielder Désiré Doué (19).

The race to sign Doué is hotting up after Bayern Munich submitted an opening offer for the Frenchman. The Bundesliga side’s €35m bid fell significantly short of Rennes’ asking price. Rennes want to garner a considerable fee for the versatile midfielder. SRFC sold Jérémy Doku to Manchester City in a €60m deal last summer. The Breton club believe that, including bonuses, they could achieve a similar fee for Doué.

Despite their initial offer being knocked back, Bayern Munich are expected to return, however, they will face considerable competition. Having seemingly missed out on Borussia Dortmund-bound Rayan Cherki, Paris Saint-Germain are very interested in signing Doué and are set to attempt to advance a deal.

L’Équipe and Ouest-France have both revealed an interest from Arsenal, however, the former publication believes that they are behind both Chelsea and Tottenham in the race to sign the Rennes midfielder. Chelsea, Tottenham, Bayern Munich and PSG are currently the four clubs leading the race, L’Équipe understands.
