FC Barcelona will do whatever they can this summer to give Hansi Flick the squad he wants. La Blaugrana do not wish to repeat the failures of last season, so the club is focused on ensuring success this time around. To do that, however, Barcelona will need to make the perfect decisions with their budget.

At the moment, the man that Barcelona are fully convinced by is Nico Williams. The 21-year-old Athletic Club winger and Spanish star is the player that Barça wish to pair up Lamine Yamal with. Both of those two Spanish wingers have been a revelation for their country, but now Barça hope to reunite them at club level.

Many hints have arrived in recent weeks, such as the explicit confirmation from Barcelona president Joan Laporta as well, but key progress still needs to be made. According to Fabrizio Romano, however, fans of the Catalan club will not have to wait much longer for that progress to be made.

Romano states that Barcelona plans to advance in talks with the camp of Nico Williams at some point this week. The main focus of that meeting would be to discuss and sort out the salary structure that will need to be followed to make the player’s transfer a reality.

Moreover, the Italian journalist has also confirmed that new Barça coach Hansi Flick has given his complete blessing for the winger’s arrival. He already reportedly believes that the 22-year-old Spanish winger would perfectly fit the reinvention he has in mind for the club, and thus has approved him as a top signing.

Fabrizio Romano did, however, issue a slight warning as well. While Barcelona does aim to work on this operation as soon as possible, the timing will need to be perfect and precise. Teams from the English Premier League have already started to knock, and that could be a problem if this operation ends up being delayed at any point.
