Ondrej lingr’s loan move from Slavia Prague was confirmed as permanent, as the club paid a €4 million fee. Last term, the 25-year-old Czech international who featured at the Euros in Germany, played 27 times in all competitions and scored four goals.

More developmental signings have come with the arrivals of Anis Hadj Moussa (22) from Patro Eisden in Belgium’s second division, Chris-Kevin Nadje (22) from FC Versailles in France’s Championnat National, and Devin Haen (20) from Dordrecht in the Eerste Divisie.

Hadj Moussa plays on the right wing and his move is said to have cost €2.5 million, while €500,000 Nadje looks like a commanding defensive midfielder. Haen arrives for €150,000 after helping De Graafschap to a sixth-place finish last season.

The most anticipated signings so far, have been the acquisitions of Costa Rican international defender, Jeyland Mitchell and MLS star Julian Carranza.

At 19-years-old, the centre-back Mitchell only has 50 career appearances to his name, yet appearances at this year’s Copa America have pointed towards a savvy signing by the Rotterdam club. He joined from Alajuenense for €2.5 million.

Argentine Carranza arrived for free, upon the expiry of his Philadelphia Union contract. In two years state-side, the 24-year-old scored an impressive 28 goals in 60 league games from midfield.

Transfers Out:

Kostas Lamprou, Alireza Jahanbaksh, Ramon Hendriks, Mats Wieffer, Nesto Groen, Mimeirhel Benita, Devin Haen

In terms of outgoings, Feyenoord have seen the contracts of both Kostas Lamprou and Alireza Jahanbaksh expire. Lamprou was signed admittedly as a back-up option, while Iranian international Jahanbaksh spent three seasons with the club, helping to capture the Eredivisie title in 2022–23, as well as the KNVB Beker in 2023-24, while playing in the final of the UEFA Europa Conference League as Feyenoord lost to Roma in 2021-22.

An early departure saw Ramon Hendriks move to Stuttgart after coming through the ranks of the Rotterdam club. In bigger news, midfield battler Mats Wieffer recently departed the club for Brighton and Hove Albion in a €30 million Premier League switch.

The latest move from De Kuip, has seen 19-year-old Nesto Groen depart for fellow-Rotterdam club, Excelsior. His transfer marks the end of 11 years with the club.

Mimeirhel Benita and Devin Haen both leave on loan for the 2024-25 season, with Heracles Almelo and Dordrecht, respectively. Benita goes out on loan after signing a new contract with his parent club, while Haen returns to the second division with Dordrecht to continue his development after signing for Feyenoord at the start of July.

Training

While the changes have been rife at the Varkenoord training ground, Feyenoord have seen the return of a number of familiar faces.

Patrik Walemark rejoined preseason training after his loan move to SC Heerenveen came to an end. There were more recent returns for Marcus Pedersen, back from his stint on loan at Sassuolo in Serie A, and Leo Sauer, following international duty with Slovakia at Euro 2024.

Despite the Netherlands’ exit against England in the semi-final, Lutsharel Geertruida is still away from the club, but will likely return in the next week or two. That said, intrigue continues to grow around the right-back, with both Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool interested in a potential transfer.

Injuries

The club announced via their social channels, that both Gijs Smal and Julian Carranza a are both being observed following an individual training program related to an injury.
