Fikayo Tomori was linked with a move to Tottenham in January but has claimed he ‘never felt the need to leave’, ahead of AC Milan taking on Feyenoord tonight in the Champions League.

Tomori was speaking alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic ahead of the huge knockout game. Milan lost 1-0 in the first leg last week, so need a response tonight to get through.

On being linked to Spurs, Tomori said: “I’ve always said I feel at home here, and nothing has changed. I know there are clubs and people who talk during every transfer window, but I was and still am focused on what I must do: stay here.

“It is an honour and a pleasure to wear this jersey. I never felt the need or desire to leave. As long as they want me, I’ll stay here.”

Tottenham were in need of a central defender, and were linked with the Englishman for a few days, before landing on Kevin Danso as their defensive recruitment.

Milan actually recruited an Englishman of their own, Kyle Walker, in January. Asked about Walker, Tomori said: “Kyle and I talk all the time. He has brought some calm and experience.

“I think the whole team knows his quality and the trophies he has won, and we are happy to have him with us. When he speaks, everyone listens because we know the player he is.

“He’s not like Ibra. He has a different approach, but he is still growing within this team. Since he arrived, he has done a great job.”

Tomori has been in Italy for four years, after leaving Chelsea initially on loan to Milan in January 2021, staying for half a season, and then making the move permanent that summer.
