Tuesday’s reports claim that Milan advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic has a first-choice candidate in mind to become the club’s new sporting director, but there is still a shortlist of three key names being considered by the Rossoneri management.
According to reports from several outlets including Corriere dello Sport, former Lazio executive Igli Tare remains Ibrahimovic’s first-choice candidate to become the new sporting director in San Siro.

The Albanian, who spent 15 years working under Claudio Lotito for the Biancocelesti, was Ibrahimovic’s first-choice when Milan began their recruitment process, but the club began to explore other options, particularly with Fabio Paratici, who will no longer take over due to legal complications.
There are still other candidates being considered, though, and Calciomercato.com claims that CEO Giorgio Furlani is still keen on the idea of appointing Atalanta director Tony D’Amico, while Giovanni Manna had been sounded out, but is tied to a contract with Napoli that runs for another four years.
That is why Tare remains a realistic target for Milan, as he has been out of work for around two years, and is therefore not tied by any outstanding contract. That means that Milan would not have to pay any compensation to a Serie A rival if they were to appoint Tare.
Additionally, That means that Tare would be able to start work immediately, potentially even before the end of the 2024-25 season, while D’Amico and/or Manna would only be able to begin work during the off-season at the earliest.
