After a late change of heart about Fabio Paratici, Milan plot to make an attempt to poach Tony D’Amico from Atalanta. He’s the preferred option of CEO Giorgio Furlani. Though, he’s under contract with La Dea until 2027, Tuttomercatoweb informs.

The two officials will meet relatively soon to see whether it’s possible to clear the obstacle. There’ll have to be some sort of negotiation between the two sides. The exec is keen on the destination, but the process would take time. It’s not certain the Rossoneri will be patient.

Tare is the main fallback to D’Amico, as he’s esteemed by Milan consultant Zlatan Ibrahimovic, in particular for his ability to operate in the transfer market with a low budget. The lingering power struggle between higher-ups will influence the hire.

The official got his start behind the desk at Vigor Lamezia in 2013 and was appointed as a scout by Hellas Verona in 2016. He became the sporting director two years later. He engineered several deals that led to massive ‘plusvalenze’ during his time with the Scaligeri.

In 2022, Atalanta chose him to succeed Giovanni Sartori, who moved to Bologna after butting heads with Gian Piero Gasperini. He contributed to the acquisitions of Rasmus Hojlund, Ademola Lookman, Ederson, Isak Hien, Charles De Ketelaere, and Mateo Retegui, among others.

Our Take on Milan and D’Amico

He’s not as acclaimed and loud as other directors, which might be a positive given the constant whispers about their hierarchy, his work in recent years speaks for itself. He would be an excellent choice for a team primed for a soft rebuild.
