Real Madrid take to the field at the Lusail Stadium tomorrow night in the final of the Intercontinental Cup where they will take on Mexican side Pachuca.

Needless to say, Los Blancos are touted as clear favorites as the European sides always are in such events involving clubs from multiple continents.

The big doubt ahead of Wednesday’s clash was always the participation and fitness of Kylian Mbappe who left the field injured against Atalanta and did not feature against Rayo Vallecano.

Now, MARCA provides an update on the player’s availability.

Mbappe is okay

As relayed by the Spanish outlet, the Frenchman has talked to the medical staff and feels back at his top fitness ahead of the game at Lusail Stadium.

The Frenchman has thus communicated his feelings to the doctors and the coaching staff and is confident he can even start on the night if the manager requires it of him.

Everything now boils down to what Mbappe shows in the team’s final training session which will be held at the venue of the game later today.

If Mbappe trains at full intensity and shows no discomfort, Ancelotti will be tempted to deploy the forward from the get-go against Pachuca. Any signs of discomfort and no risks will be taken.

Mbappe’s relatively shaky start to the season has him in dire need of confidence and a second trophy playing for Real Madrid as a starter will do him a world of good.

Considering the storyline that it was the same stadium where he lost the FIFA World Cup final to Lionel Messi’s Argentina only adds more fire to Mbappe’s case.
