Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi has no doubts about it – he is hungry to win another Serie A title.
The 25-year-old gave his thoughts to Turin-based newspaper La Stampa in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews.
Frattesi certainly had a memorable first season at Inter.
The Italian international’s first campaign with the Nerazzurri culminated in the Serie A title.
That was Inter’s twentieth ever in the club’s history. Therefore, it felt even more special.
Then there was the fact that Inter clinched the title in the derby against their city rivals AC Milan. Neither side had ever done that before.
Therefore, the title was something that Inter celebrated in stages, so to speak.
The climax to the festivities was a gigantic bus tour through Milan.
And for his part, Frattesi is hungry to experience the elation of winning the Scudetto again.
“I certainly want an encore of that celebration,” Frattesi said.
“I want to see another incredible choreography like we got before the match we had against Torino.”
But Frattesi admitted that “There are more teams fighting for it this season.”
“Last season it was just Juventus, and then Milan to an extent,” the 25-year-oled noted.
“Now, Atalanta, Fiorentina, Lazio, and Napoli have all added themselves to it.”
“A couple of teams can slip up,” Frattesi said. “But then the others will stay in it.”
“It’s a bigger, more open title race.”
Of whether being labelled the big favourites bothers Frattesi, the midfielder said “Yes and no.”
“Matches have to be played on the pitch,” noted the Italian international. “It’s easy to chat from the outside.”
“And it doesn’t mean that one team just automatically has an advantage.”
“Just look at Manchester City and Real Madrid over the last few months,” Frattesi noted.
“Players perform based on context. A player out of position seems to perform badly.”
Frattesi asserted that “In the negative moments, you can really see the strength of a group.”
“That happened to us after our elimination from the Champions League against Atletico Madrid. We had to find the strength to move forward right away.”
