Barcelona are set to face off against rivals Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-finals tomorrow at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.

Ahead of the heavyweight clash, the Blaugrana convened for training today at the club’s Ciutat Esportiva facilities with one notable absentee from the group session.

Lamine Yamal not training with group

Indeed, as reported by journalist Adria Albets, Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal is not training with the rest of the squad today, ahead of the semi-final tie against Atletico Madrid.

The 17-year-old sensation was left with a bloodied foot after the game against Las Palmas this past weekend due to a challenge from an opponent player which was not even called a foul by the match official.

It appears that the wound may have still not healed fully as Yamal is now currently not in training with the rest of the group as the Barcelona stars prepare for tomorrow’s blockbuster encounter against Diego Simeone’s men.

At this point, it is still unclear whether Lamine will be ruled out of the contest altogether, and more clarity on the matter should arrive when manager Hansi Flick addresses the media in his pre-match presser.

Lamine has been one of Barça’s best players this season and has been a key reason behind the club’s ascent to the top of the La Liga standings, along with their Spanish Super Cup success and progression in Copa del Rey and the UEFA Champions League.

An alternate report from Toni Juanmarti suggests that Lamine is sitting out of training today so that he can recover and be at his best for tomorrow’s match. The winger is intent on playing against Atletico Madrid no matter what.
