If these two things happen Argyle fans would be over the moon

Nathanael Ogbeta was the first player to join the Wayne Rooney revolution down in Devon, with the former Swansea City man joining the club after his contract expired with the Welsh side last month.

The Greens have also bolstered their attacking options ahead of the next campaign, with frontman Muhamed Tijani joining on a season-long loan from Slavia Prague, while exciting winger Ibrahim Cissoko will also be borrowed for 12 months from Toulouse.

Darko Gyabi has also come back to the club for the year from Championship rivals Leeds United, after his time at Home Park last season was cut short through injury.

But despite the early transfer activity, there are still a number of issues to resolve at the club before the next campaign gets underway next month, and here we outline two things all Argyle fans would love to see in the week to come.

2 Michael Cooper makes contract decision U-turn

With the Pilgrims’ issues in the final third being addressed with a number of exciting-looking signings, the icing on the cake would be for Michael Cooper to go back on his decision to turn down a new deal at the club.

The 24-year-old is said to have rejected a deal to become the club’s highest earner last month, and with less than 12 months on his current deal, Argyle look resigned to losing him before August ends.

The shot-stopper has been influential in his hometown side’s rise up the leagues in recent seasons, with his incredible reflexes and control of his penalty area helping keep things tight at the back for the Devon outfit.

Having won the League One Golden Glove in the 21/22 campaign, Cooper has had to battle ligament injuries in each of the previous two campaigns but has added a reassuring presence whenever he has been able to perform between the sticks.

With that said, Argyle fans would love nothing more than for their academy graduate to go make a U-turn and commit his future to the club this summer, and join in on what is shaping up to be an exciting season ahead.

The Sun journalist Alan Nixon has reported that Aston Villa have had been keen on the goalkeeper in the past, while the same source claims there is widespread interest in the glovesman this summer.

How about we just sit down and talk this through over a pasty and a cider, Mike? This doesn’t have to be the end.

1 Plymouth Argyle beat Millwall to Namory Cisse signing

It was reported by Football Insider last week that Argyle face competition from Championship rivals Millwall for the signing of Austria Lustenau striker Namory Cisse.

The rangy frontman netted three times in ten starts for the Austria Bundesliga side in the previous campaign, although they were ultimately relegated from the top flight at the end of the season.

With less than 12 months on his current deal, the former Fortuna Sittard player is said to be interesting the two second-tier sides this summer, and Argyle would love to get their hands on him to add to their attacking options.

The Pilgrims failed to find the back of the net more than once in each of their final 12 games of the previous campaign, which contributed to them battling at the bottom of the division as the season came to a close.

With the goals of Morgan Whittaker and Ryan Hardie drying up, things got a lot tighter than many imagined during the first half of the campaign, where the Greens were finding the net with ease after earning promotion from the third tier.

With the arrivals of Tijani and Cissoko, as well as the return of Gyabi, Argyle have already started to address the issues in that regard, and Cisse could be the icing on the cake for the season ahead.

Standing at six foot four inches tall, the striker could add another dimension the Pilgrims’ frontline if he were to join, and offer a focal point for attacks to begin, as he holds up the ball and brings others into play.
