According to journalist Jorge C Picon, Real Madrid are actively pursuing the signing of two defenders, Leny Yoro and Alphonso Davies.

The situations involving these players, however, are currently quite uncertain. While there seems to be progress in the negotiations for Yoro, his team, Lille, continues to press him to accept a more financially lucrative offer from Manchester United.

On the other hand, the pursuit of Alphonso Davies is progressing more slowly. Although there have been discussions, the teams have yet to sit down for formal negotiations.

Man United are waiting for Yoro

When it comes to Yoro, Manchester United are eagerly awaiting his decision. They are prepared to offer a significant fixed sum, ranging from €40 million to €50 million, and have proposed a contract that could extend his stay until 2029, with an option for an additional year.

Despite this attractive offer, Yoro is hesitating, holding out for a potential move to Real Madrid. However, Lille’s reluctance to consider Real Madrid’s €40 million bid has made the negotiations challenging.

Nevertheless, Real Madrid remain hopeful that if Yoro stands firm, Lille will eventually yield.

What about Davies?

Davies’ acquisition raises several questions for Real Madrid, primarily because the team already has two left-backs, Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia.

Adding another left-back could create complications within the squad. Reports suggest that Garcia might be sacrificed to make room for Davies, but manager Carlo Ancelotti could also opt to utilise Davies in a different role.

As reported before, Ancelotti sees potential in Davies playing further up the pitch. He could be deployed as a wing-back in midfield or even as an outright winger, roles he has excelled in at Bayern Munich.

Davies, known for his attacking prowess, could provide width and push forward, allowing Ancelotti to retain Mendy and Garcia as full-backs.

In summary, Real Madrid’s efforts to sign Yoro and Davies are ongoing but fraught with challenges. While Yoro’s situation is complicated by Lille’s pressure and Manchester United’s tempting offer, Real Madrid remains optimistic.
