Inter will head into the 2024/25 season as the favourites to win the Serie A title for the second consecutive year.

They finished 19 points clear of local rivals Milan last term, while Juventus were a further four points adrift in third place.

Inter are a best-priced 4/6 in the latest football betting to retain the title, but there are reasons to believe the outcome will be different this time around.

Inter will be tough to beat

Simone Inzaghi’s side lost twice in the league last season, scoring 89 goals and conceding just 22 on their way to an emphatic title success.

Inter have already made some shrewd signings this summer and may add further quality to their squad before the transfer window closes.

However, it is worth noting that no team has retained the title since Juventus claimed top spot for the ninth successive season in 2019/20.

While Inter will undoubtedly be the team to beat next season, there is no value in wagering on them at odds-on.

Juventus fancied to close the gap

Juventus look a tempting proposition at odds of 4/1 to knock Inter off their perch next season after appointing Thiago Motta as their new manager.

Motta did a fantastic job at Bologna last term, guiding them to a fifth-place finish to secure qualification for the Champions League.

Juventus have added midfielders Douglas Luiz and Khephren Thuram to their squad, and more new signings are expected before the transfer window closes.

Nice centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo is one of their primary targets, and his acquisition would be big boost to Juve’s title hopes.

Milan have a point to prove

Having failed to defend the title in 2022/23, Milan were expected to mount a strong bid to claim top spot last term.

However, their new-look squad was unable to keep pace with Inter and they ended the season a long way behind them in second place.

Milan have been relatively quiet in the transfer market this summer, although they are expected to add some new players before the end of August.

New manager Paulo Fonseca has a tough job on his hands at the San Siro and his team will do well to retain their place in the top four.

Conte fancied to spark Napoli revival

Atalanta, Roma and Lazio could all challenge for Champions League qualification, while Napoli may also be in contention after appointing Antonio Conte as manager.

Napoli failed to qualify for Europe after finishing tenth last term, but that could work in their favour as they bid to climb back up the standings.

Conte has a proven track record of success in Serie A, and he will fancy his chances of guiding the 2022/23 champions back into the top four next term.

Leonardo Spinazzola, Alessandro Buongiorno and Rafa Marin are shrewd additions to the squad, and Napoli could be dangerous if they bring in a few more new players.
