Former Inter Milan defender Lucio believes that the Nerazzurri can repeat the historic treble that he and his teammates achieved in 2010.
The ex-Brazil international was part of Inter’s squad under Jose Mourinho that secured the Serie A title and Coppa Italia crown domestically, before defeating Bayern Munich 2-0 in the Champions League final for an unprecedented treble success.
Appearing at the DAZN Infinity League in Munich and in an interview with television broadcaster DAZN, and as reported by FCInterNews.it, Lucio offered his thoughts on current coach Simone Inzaghi’s chances of winning all three competitions.
Inter are currently top of Serie A, in the Coppa Italia semi-final, and face another of Lucio’s former clubs in Bayern in the quarter-final of the Champions League.
“I don’t follow Italian football as much but I follow Inter,” the 2002 World Cup winner claimed.
“I always hope they win, we know that now against Bayern Munich they will have a difficult match but they are strong, they are developing well.
“Yes, I think the treble can be achieved. The Champions League is the most difficult part but I think it can be done.”
Lucio joined Inter in 2009 and made 136 appearances in all competitions before an ill-fated switch to Juventus, in which he only played once in Serie A before returning to Brazil with Sao Paulo.
