Wolves vs Arsenal team news

Wolves are still without Sasa Kalajdzic who is weeks away from returning to the squad. Yerson Mosquera, Enso Gonzalez and Toti Gomes are also all missing through injury.

Mario Lemina is another who won’t play for Wolves against Arsenal, since he asked to leave the club. However, Matheus Cunha remains available for selection despite recent news on his future.

For Arsenal, both Myles Lewis-Skelly and William Saliba are doubts for the Wolves clash. The duo are set to be assessed in training today before a decision is made on their availability for the game. Arteta has said both are expected to return by at least next game.

The Gunners also remain without Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka, Tomiyasu and Ben White due to injury.

Ethan Nwaneri returned to the Arsenal squad to face Dinamo Kiev midweek, coming from the bench for a 32-minute cameo. He could now be challenging to start against Wolves.

Huge period for Kai Havertz

Since Saka’s injury, the common question has become where Arsenal’s main source of goals will come from. For a brief moment of time, Jesus had returned to the side and added some much needed output. But he also now finds himself out for the season after surgery on an ACL injury.

Nwaneri was another source of hope, having some quality moments playing from the right-wing in the place of Saka, beginning to find a connection with Martin Odegaard and creating chances from that right hand side. But he also went down injured and is only just returning for contention now.

Much of the burden has fallen on Havertz, renown for being a jack of all trades, master of none, who is versatile and can offer solutions all over the pitch for Arteta. But he sometimes doesn’t have the consistency in front of goal to give the desired output to lead them to a title.

So far this season, Havertz has scored 14 goals in 30 games in all competitions, also providing four assists. But when you break it down to Premier League games only, he has eight goals and two assists in 19 appearances. Given Wolves have conceded the most goals in the Premier League this season (51), Arsenal will be looking to hit a few past them and gain confidence in their attack, which could make this week pivotal for Havertz.
