The parent company behind Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing one of La Liga’s shining starlets in the defensive ranks.

It is the latest in a long list of defensive transfer links involving Manchester City and the wider City Football Group, with two arrivals expected into Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad in the coming days.

Much of City’s issues so far this season have centred around defensive instability, and club officials have moved at the earliest opportunity to try and rectify those issues, whilst also building for the future.

Lens’ Abdukodir Khusanov and Palmeiras’ Vitor Reis are set to come into the Etihad Stadium by the end of the week for a total transfer spend north of £60 million, while the over spend this month could yet vastly exceed the £100 million barrier.

But those defensive plans extend beyond Manchester City themselves, as the wider City Football Group are now looking to build out their own base of rising young talents to be developed towards the ultimate end goal of the Etihad Stadium.

That is according to the information of ESPN’s Moises Llorens and Rob Dawson, who reports that the parent company behind Manchester City, CFG (City Football Group) are currently in talks to sign highly-rated centre-back Juma Bah.

Having attracted interest from a number of European clubs, according to ESPN, City Football Group are now ‘working hard’ to add him to their roster of highly-rated young talents while Inter Milan have also shown interest.

Unfortunately for the Italians, the report states CFG are in ‘pole position’ to sign the Sierra Leone starlet although it remains to be seen whether the group would permit an extended stay with Real Valladolid on loan, or whether he would continue at another club within the group.

Manchester City are no strangers to bringing in young and exciting names into the City Football Group project to undergo development processes with the end goal being the Premier League champions.

However, in recent years there have only been a very select few to have broken into Pep Guardiola’s starting line-up, with Savinho being the most recent example having been recruited by ESTAC Troyes but developed at Girona.

Oleksandr Zinchenko is another name to have been brought in to the City Group as a signing for the future, but ultimately became a multi-Premier League title winner before joining Arsenal for a £32 million package.
