Mattia Zaccagni said Pedro was ‘the perfect man to take a penalty’ at the 98th minute for Lazio, while Ivan Provedel is ‘still upset’ at conceding that Milan goal.
There was plenty of pressure on both sets of players going into San Siro, as while the Rossoneri fell to a third consecutive Serie A defeat and slipped to ninth place, the Aquile had drawn their last two and were knocked out of the Coppa Italia quarter-final here by Inter on Tuesday.
Zaccagni’s opener was cancelled out by a Samuel Chukwueze header, despite the fact Strahinja Pavlovic had been sent off at the 67th minute.
Deep into stoppages, Mike Maignan brought down Gustav Isaksen and Pedro kept his cool to convert the last-gasp penalty for the 2-1 win.

“We are not looking at the table, we were focused on tonight’s game and should’ve killed it off earlier considering all the chances that we created. We fought hard and earned this victory,” Zaccagni told DAZN.
When Isaksen was brought down, there was only one player who was going to step up to the spot at San Siro with the crowd all jeering.
“Pedro was the perfect man to take a penalty at the 98th minute, because he is a champion and has won it all. We are pleased, everyone worked really hard, I am proud of the team,” concluded Zaccagni.
Lazio thought that the win had already been sealed against 10 men until allowing that Chukwueze free header at the back post on 86 minutes.
“We needed the perfect performance, as it is really tough to play here against Milan. It’s a pity we conceded that goal, it still upsets me, but fortunately we got the points,” goalkeeper Provedel told DAZN.
“It was emotionally exhausting, we wanted a victory to give us that enthusiasm that we had been struggling with lately, as it had been a while since we’d won.”
