Everton have confirmed The Friedkin Group (TFG) have finalised their takeover of the club from Farhad Moshiri.

Moshiri first put Everton up for sale in January 2023 and the long, arduous process has seen a number of twists. An agreement was reached with 777 Partners in September that year but the American group failed to finalise their purchase and the deal collapsed in June 2024.

TFG, led by Roma owner Dan Friedkin, then began talks with Moshiri but initially withdrew after failing to reach an agreement, only to return to the table in September to finally strike a deal to buy Everton which reports suggest is worth around £400m.

The Premier League confirmed TFG's 98.8% share acquisition on Thursday, bringing an end to the saga.

"I truly believe that the transaction with The Friedkin Group is the best outcome for the Club and its future success," Moshiri said in a statement.

"There has been a huge team effort in getting to this stage and I would like to personally thank my Board colleagues John Spellman and Colin Chong and all the senior management team including Katie, James, Richard and of course Kevin and Sean for their huge commitment to the Club.

"Despite a challenging geopolitical backdrop, a significant amount has been achieved over the last couple of years including the delivery of a new sporting department, the stabilisation of our finances and the delivery of our iconic new stadium. I now hand over to new owners confident in the outlook for the Club and that our incredible fans will see the success on the pitch that they so thoroughly deserve."
