The President of Newell’s Old Boys has confirmed that he is “confident” about talks for midfielder Tomas Perez with Inter Milan.
Speaking to journalists, via FCInterNews, Newell’s President Ignacio Astore confirmed that he expects the transfer to be for a fee of around €7 million.
In recent days, reports have strongly linked Inter with young Newell’s midfielder Tomas Perez.
The 19-year-old is a player who the Nerazzurri see as a major prospect for the future.
Inter are planning to set up an Under-23 team for the first time starting next season. And they are looking to sign young players who can grow into the team.
The Nerazzurri have frequently scouted Argentina for young players throughout their history.
And in recent weeks, Inter have identified two Newell’s players as targets, according to reports.
One is midfielder Perez. Reports in the last couple days have suggested that negotiations for the young Argentine midfielder’s transfer are very far along now.
Meanwhile, Inter have also reportedly been eyeing up a deal for forward Mateo Silvetti.
As far as the state of negotiations for Perez, Newll’s President Astore made clear that “It’s not done yet.”
“But I’m confident,” he continued.
“We’ll discuss it between today and tomorrow,” he said of Perez’s prospective transfer to Inter. “We still have to work out the add-ons.”
Meanwhile, Astore also spoke about the situation of Newell’s forward Silvetti. “He’s not a part of the negotiations for now,” the Newell’s President made clear.
As far as Perez, Astore said Inter “could sign him for around €7 million, or a bit more.”
“We’ll agree on the exact figure. But we have to agree on the exact structure of the deal.”
“We’re confident,” the Newell’s President made clear.
