Spain star Nico Williams was one of the faces of the tournament at Euro 2024, and his goal will live long in the memory, but he won’t be keeping his heaviest souvenir from the moment, revealing that he will give away his medal.

La Roja went ahead shortly after half-time through Williams, who was assisted by his closest associate on the pitch and off it, Lamine Yamal. After the game, Williams explained that their achievements are yet to sink in.

“We have suffered like animals. We are not yet aware of what we have achieved and what is being experienced in Spain. We have made history. Lamine is amazing. He has no ceiling. He sees things very clearly. I’m proud to be one of the best in the Euros, and I hope to continue growing as a player.”

One of the key parts of their success highlighted by multiple members of the Spain squad and manager Luis de la Fuente has been the cohesive group, and Williams said that it was evident when they came up against adversity.

“This is football. This team is unique. We are all pulling in the same direction and it shows. We have won, but the best thing is that we have recovered from difficult situations. It seemed like we had it done, but it got complicated. We have overcome many extreme circumstances,” he told Marca.

Williams was also quick to mention his parents in multiple interviews, crediting them for the values that they taught him growing up.

“The first thing I did was be with my parents. They deserve it more than anyone. I gave the medal to my mother because she is the winner of life,” he beamed to Cadena Cope.
