Former Blue Frank Lebouef has revealed why he’s scared to call Chelsea title contenders this season despite their strong start to the season.
The Blues find themselves in second place in the league just two points behind leaders Liverpool, whilst they ae four points clear of Arsenal in third.
Enzo Maresca’s men could momentarily go top of the table if they beat Everton on Sunday with Liverpool kicking off in the later game.
Having only lost two of their sixteen matches the Blues have unexpectedly found themselves in the title race conversation.
Maresca has played down talk of the title on multiple occasions this season and is clearly trying to manage expectations.
Nicolas Jackson claimed after the Brentford game that he didn’t even look at the league table, and the message coming out of the club from the players and manager is they aren’t in a title race.

With each game the Blues win it will become more difficult to play that talk down, but Chelsea are very much taking it one game at a time.
Former Blue Lebouef has explained why he’s scared to label the Blues contenders and feels he needs to see them beat a top side.
“At some point, they’re going to lose a game, and I want to see how they react before saying they are capable of fighting with Liverpool and Arsenal.”
